Supplemental: Even More Details

Apparently my most detailed sketch yet wasn't detailed enough. Matt completed it and sent it along to me, so now I'll share it with you.

Racoon

This started as a very small sketch in my sketchbook. Scanned the image and blew it up a bit more in order to add details and outlines.

My Most Detailed Sketch Yet!

Less time than usual today. Couldn't do more than scribble out a light figure sketch. I've started doing my sketches in blue. This saves me the hassle of having to lower the opacity on the sketch layer... like you care.

Girl III

Continuing my practice with the new outlining technique. I used a graphite pencil like brush this time, and did some shading as well. I like how this turned out.

I also just noticed that my file numbering has been off for the past few drawings. I was behind by one. I've corrected the problem starting with this image, but the previous mis-numbered files will have to remain that way because I'm too lazy to go back and change them. Not that anyone really cares. :-)

Dragon II

Another dragon. This time I was trying out a new outlining technique I found online. I was able to keep all of the outlining work completely in Photoshop and still get much the same effect I was getting by using Illustrator. Think I'll experiment a bit more with this technique.

Alien Bug

This morning I happened upon some artwork online that was done in a sepia tone style on parchment paper. I really liked the style and decided to try it myself. This was really fun to draw, and I love the results. Think I'm going to do something like this again in the future.

Stickman Faces His Deepest Fear

My Wacom tablet was acting odd today, and the outlines on this turned out a little darker than I wanted them to. A restart of the ol' laptop fixed the issue, but I had already gotten too far into this sketch to start over, so I left it.

When I was a kid, there was this guy on T.V. that would take scribbles that kids had sent in to him and he would turn the scribbles into a drawing of something. Being lazy today, I thought I'd try the same thing. I scribbled a line on the canvas and then turned it into this... Actually, I was just trying to draw Patrick Swayze.

Big Foot - Color

Here's the promised color version of Big Foot. Colored in Photoshop. I could have done something similar using Illustrator, but it would have taken a bit longer to accomplish the same thing.

Ice Cream Cone

It was hot today, so I've been thinking about ice cream... In fact, I think I might stop off and grab some on the way home from the library.

Octopus

Yep. I'm still messing around with the Illustrator brushes I created. Still fine-tuning things, so this trend may continue for a while. This little guy was done completely in Illustrator, no Photoshop required.

Little Cinder Girl

More testing out of my new Illustrator brushes, though I did some of the line work in Photoshop. This is a character idea for a children's story that only exists as a small glimmering of an idea in my head right now.

Coffee

When I draw something simple like this, I usually have a reason. That reason may or may not be apparent. For this one, I was attempting something new on the Sketch layer of the drawing, and since that doesn't make it to the final stage of the drawing, this is one of those times.

Han Solo

At Steve's suggestion, I decided to try my hand at a Star Wars character. Once again I used Illustrator for the line work. This one took me a while, and I ran out of time. I may go back and add shading (and probably color) sometime later.
