Dice Bag

When I was 13 I found a Crown Royal bag on the street. I took it home, washed it up real good and used it to store my dice. Funny thing, as I met more and more gamers through the years, I found that I wasn't alone in using Crown Royal bags to carry dice. That bag lasted me until just a few years ago, when it finally wore out. I don't drink Crown Royal, but I thought I might pick up a small bottle just to replace my beloved bag. I could just pour the alcohol down the sink. Then I saw the price tag! I definitely wasn't going to spend over $30 on a dice bag. Fortunately, J.K. Rowling came to my rescue! You see, Jelly Belly (the jelly bean company) started making Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans candies (from the Harry Potter series) and selling them in little bags. Best of all, my kids bought some with their own money, and I was able to steal the bag without them noticing. It's a might smaller than my old Crown Royal bag, but I do considerably less gaming than I used to, so it's all good. Plus, I didn't have to pour good whiskey any money down the drain. Anyway, this is a very rough sketch of my current dice bag.

Carly

Thought I'd try something different for a while. It's been a while since I've actually sketched from life or used any kind of reference. So, for the next few drawings that's what I'm going to be doing. This is our dog, Carly. Isn't she pretty? Wouldn't you just love to take her home with you?... No. Really. Wouldn't you just love to take her home with you?

Caught Being Good

Finally felt well enough to do more than sit around and complain about how miserable I felt. Decided I'd add some detail and color to this one. Oh, and I changed the title of the pic.

Oogabooga!

This one could have been titled "Oh, my! Look at the time!" The doodles I post are usually done the day before they're posted. Sometimes I'm a few days ahead, but most of the time I need to do one every day. Today's doodle was done at almost 10:30 p.m. last night. I was just about to turn the lights off and go to sleep when I realized I hadn't done anything for today's posting, so I had to rush this one out.

Continuing my "still life" sketching of household objects. This is a Hot Wheels car that I've had sitting around the house for some reason. Unfortunately, I didn't have any time and the lighting was bad in the living room this morning. But, as I've stated on other occasions, this blog is about quantity, not quality.

Mr. Fancypants

So, I had this phrase going through my head, "Mr. Fancypants was a sensible ogre." It was just a bit of nonsense, but I decided to illustrate it with a doodle. Of course, now that I look at it, it kind of looks like he wants to sell you a bucket of chicken. Perhaps I should have called him "Colonel Fancypants".

Broccoli Karaoke

Most people that know me know how much I hate broccoli. This seems about the best thing to do with it.

Bubba Junior

We had our monthly game day yesterday at the house of some friends. One of the games we played was The Game of Redneck Life. While we were playing, I used a ballpoint pen to doodle a portrait of my character in the top margin of my score sheet. Bubba Junior managed to win the game, having the most teeth left (14) on the Day of Reckonin'. Good times.

Dragonfly Completed

Today's post represents the halfway point of Doodle-All-A-Day! Frankly, I didn't think I was going to make it this far... To celebrate this milestone, I thought I'd complete this sketch that I posted earlier this week. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to add color to it, but I like the way it turned out just the same.

Stuck in the Snow

This is not an unfortunate elephant (though its incompleteness arises from an unfortunate event)... I went to work yesterday morning and it was snowing... and while I was at work it continued to snow.... and snow... and snow... (this is not typical weather for us)... By mid-morning the road back home was closed and it has stayed closed. I am stuck 45 miles away. I didn't have my normal gear, so I quickly scribbled this using just the mouse on the computer I had available. Hopefully I'll get home tonight and be able to do something better tomorrow...

Mad Scientist

Finally caught a break and was able to spend a bit more time on this one. I'm calling him a mad scientist, but he doesn't look particularly insane... I am a bit curious about what he might be gawking at, though. Hm...
