Ummmm

So. Um. Er. Uh... yeah.

Cat

I know it looks like this is a dead cat... but it's just sleeping. Really!

Anger

Consider this my second "mood doodle" and be happy you're not in the same room with me right now.

Clockwork Man

This was a lot of fun to do. I used Illustrator to get the gears shaped right, but the rest was done in Photoshop.

Puppy

I really didn't mean to draw something cute today. That's just how it ended up.

Hand Practice

I really needed to work on drawing hands and feet. Thought I'd start with hands.

Godzilla

Godzilla enjoys an "after dinner smoke."

Yes, this is two established character drawings in a row. I'm such a rebel.

Young Indy

Slight breaking of the guidelines by doing a take on an established character today.

Faerie

I'm not as happy with this as I wanted to be. It started out strong, and then I lost it somewhere around the trench coat. And it doesn't help that I still can't draw hands to save my life. I'm thinking that maybe if I add some shading it would improve, but I'm not caring enough to spend the time on it that it would require. Oh well.

Another Smiley Guy

I feel I need to apologize for the simplistic nature of the past couple of drawings. I've been hard at work helping my youngest daughter complete a very involved school project and it has put me behind on my drawing schedule. I'm still trying to get back on track.

Dead Tree

There is an extremely dead tree that I pass every day on my way to work. It looks something like this, complete with crow. I know it probably seems cliche for there to be a crow sitting on the branch of a dead tree, but what are you gonna do?

Goop Monster

This is a character concept for another book that only exists in my head at the moment.

When I was a kid I would sometimes experiment with things in the kitchen, playing mad scientist with whatever ingredients I could find. My kids do the same thing occasionally. The story, as it exists in my head, is about a kid whose experiment in the kitchen goes awry, resulting in a goop monster that begins eating everything in sight - growing larger all the while.

Duck

I don't know why, but it seems that all the creators of cartoon animals feel it's necessary to use alliteration when naming their characters. We have Donald Duck, Daffy Duck, Mickey Mouse, Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, etc...

This is Clarence...

... I'm such a rebel.

Tiptoe - Color

This post marks my 100th doodle! It's hard to believe I've made it this far, considering when I started this I wasn't sure I'd even last a week. Only 265 more to go!

This is a color version of my original Tiptoe sketch. I was really happy with the original, so I wanted to do something a little more detailed. I used the same parchment texture for the background that I did on the Alien Bug sketch. I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Spellbook

Just watched the made-for-tv film adaptation of Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic. I always liked his idea of the books in the library at Unseen University that had to be chained down to keep them from escaping.

Oh, and I wasn't terribly impressed with the movie. There were aspects that I liked, but I just think it wasn't well-cast. As much as I like Sean Astin, I never pictured him as Twoflower. I've never been a big Tim Curry fan. I think Jeremy Irons was a good choice for the Patrician, but what was up with the lisp? The Patrician is supposed to be this cold, calculating ruler. It just didn't do it for me. I did like the casting of David Jason as Rincewind (though I'd never heard of him before seeing the movie). And, of course, Christopher Lee is one of the best choices as the voice of Death - that deep baritone is about how I've always imagined it when reading the Discworld books. All-in-all I preferred the adaptation of Hogfather.

Missy was sleeping on the couch this morning, so I did a quick sketch.

Sock Puppet

Had a little help with the arm on this using the Dave Nagel Series 36 brushes. Kinda like the way it turned out.
